Procedure for using Urine Specimen Cups

The lid of the Urine Specimen testing cup should be opened and fill the cup with at least 30 ml of the urine sample. Verify whether the urine sample and drug testing cup are at room temperature.  Leave the test cup at a dry place and wait for 5 minutes to get the result. The Urine Specimen Testing Cup cannot detect drugs in a urine sample that are below the cut-off level. Urine may contain traces of drug, but still the sample would still be considered as negative, if the drug level is below the cut-off level.

If there are 2 coloured lines one in the testing region and one in the control region then the result is negative and no drug is detected in the urine specimen. If there is only one line in the control region and no line in the testing region, then the result is positive and drug is detected in the urine sample. The result is considered to be invalid if there is no line in the control region and a line appears in the testing region. If the result is positive then the sample should be sent to the laboratory for further testing by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry for confirmation.
